bandwith limit

Sergio 2016-02-09 12:27:30 UTC in Paywall: WMSAuth and beyond

Hi,

When I put a bandwith limit of 0.8gbps the server ignores it and exceeds this limit.

Hello Sergio,

Unfortunately currently bandwidth limitation works only for Wowza.

Thank you Max,

What would happen if I limit the speed of the server? For example, if the server has windows and I limit the upload speed with the software : netlimitter.

Would it be the same as limit through whm cpanel?

regards

Hi Sergio,

This will not limit the users from requesting the playlists to initiate streaming so there will be numerous errors in Nimble logs. This will not cause the malfunction of Nimble however this will give bad user experience to your audience.
I suggest to take our load balancing approach as a base: blog.wmspanel.com/2015/02/hls-dash-media-streaming-load-balancing.html and modify it in the way where users won't be shown web player if the limit is exceeded. This will allow handling your users more politely and show them proper content (ads etc.) while they are waiting.

Thank you Yury Udovichenko,

A Pull API is necessary for this?

Sergio,

I see you've subscribed and enabled API for your account.
