VOD with network path

Gianni 2016-05-20 16:32:46 UTC in Nimble Streamer

Hi, I'm trying to configure VOD route (via WMS panel), but I encountered an issue with file video network path.

If I try to add a route with a physical path on the server (e.g. "c:\video") I'm able to see the video stream, via HTTP.

But I need to configure a network path, mounted as device (V:\). In this case I receive always a 404 error.

Also tried to create a admin user on the machine, with the same credentials of read/write user for the network device. I added this user as LogOn to the Nimble Streamer service, and restarted it.

Any suggestion?

Hello,

First, you need to run Nimble Streamer service as user with admin permissions (since default LocalSystem can't access network), and this user should be able to access share with its credentials.

Second, seems like disk mapping can't be used. Our guess is that it's applicable only for logged in user, not for service. Instead, you should create link to network location. From admin command prompt perform run:
mklink /d c:\Temp\Video \\Server\video
After that you should specify c:\Temp\Video as VOD location.
