Issues setting up SSL on Nimble

Josh 2016-10-12 16:23:38 UTC in Nimble Streamer

Hello!

I am trying to get SSL working with Nimble streamer so I can stream over HTTPS. I am running into a problem though.

I edit /etc/nimble/nimble.conf and add the lines:

ssl_port = 443 (the port our server uses for SSL)
ssl_certificate = my/path/to/cert (these point to cert and key)
ssl_certificate_key = my/path/to/key

Then I save the file, but when I try to restart nimble server, it won't actually restart. And after that my streaming program (OBS) cannot connect anymore.

If I remove the "ssl_port" entry in nimble.conf, I can then restart the nimble server and use it just fine, but SSL still isn't working.

I am obviously doing something wrong, but I can't pinpoint what it is. So any help with this is definitely appreciated!

Please start from beginning and edit you nimble.conf as you did initially.
Then restart server and check nimble.log. Find errors related to ssl and try to fix. If you cannot please start new support ticket via https://wmspanel.com/contact and attach nimble.conf, nimble.log after restart. In additional make sure you don't have another software running on 443 on your server

Thanks for the point in the right direction!

It was the port for anyone coming across this post. Changed the port "ssl_port" was pointing to, made sure it was allowed in CSF, and bam!

Also for those wondering if you come across this, it was apache running on 443 of course. Kind of obvious in hindsight lol
