How to refresh the cached version of an updated MP4 on the Edge server

Daniel 2018-01-02 20:15:16 UTC in WMSPanel functionality

I have an Edge - Origin Setup.

I've had to replace one of the mp4 files in the Origin.

Is there an elegant way to refresh the cached version of that new MP4 on the Edge server?

Or do I have to manually locate the files and delete them from rm -rf /var/cache/nimble/pd/*?

Thank you

In my case the directory is /var/cache/nimble/hls/[server name]/vod/[smil]/*

Hello Daniel,

Unfortunately Nimble does not support forcing refreshing cached content, it will only be refreshed when cache item is expired. I'd suggest to use another file(-s) names on the origin in this case.

You can manually delete cached content in /var/cache/nimble, of course, but you should only do that when Nimble is not running as it can cause problems if Nimble is using it.

Thanks Max; can this feature (forced cache refresh) be considered in future releases? For example, Wowza has an add-on which lists the playlists that have been cached. Beside each, there is a link to purge the cache for the item.

Many thanks
