Can't stream VOD as HLS to public network

Rony 2017-06-18 06:38:24 UTC in Nimble Streamer

I have installed Nimble streamer but it is restricted to local network. I have configured public IP with port forwarding (8081), but when I insert the public IP address on VLC, it doesn't play the VOD file. When I run VLC on the same machine running Nimble, using the local IP address, it works fine. I tried adding a custom IP but it didn't solve the problem.

Did you get an answer to this, or figure out your issue? If so, please post on here to help me and others :)

Thanks!

I think it was configuration issue. Let's work in your support ticket to solve this.
In short I'd always recommend to use curl -vvv http://x.x.x.x:8081/yourstream/playlist.m3u8 and check what curl returns. If it returns Network error or like that this means you have network setup problem.
If it returns 404 this means requested stream doesn't exists because you probably misprinted stream name. etc...

Did you configured port forwarding to port 8081 on your router? Notice that adding custom IP/Port in server settings in WmsPanel just add it to URLs generating for player on "Outgoing streams" page, and doesn't actually affect any network settings.
Also make sure that Nimble is not blocked by firewall.

I can recommend to read this article: https://www.howtogeek.com/66214/how-to-forward-ports-on-your-router/ - however, each router manufacturer has own UI, so it may look different than describer here, so you should better find instruction specific for your router (google "<your_router_model> port forwarding" ).
