Re-streaming LAN multicast streams

Carlos 2015-08-07 21:23:52 UTC in WMSPanel functionality

There are a couple of multicast streams in my LAN that I'd like to re-stream to HLS, and from what I have read it seems to be possible.

When adding the data at the INCOMING STREAM dialog I see three input boxes: IP Address, Port and Alias. So far, so good. Now, the minute I put the multicast address, in my case 239.192.1.14, another input box appears: Multicast IP Address. That's where I'm lost.

Should I put the same IP address in both boxes?

Hello Carlos,

Nimble Streamer needs to know IP address of network interface which multicast stream comes from. That's why this field is introduced.

You can go to your server properties to view list of all interfaces accessible for your Nimble instance.

If you have any further questions, please start new support thread by sending email to help@wmspanel.com, so we could mention specific streams and servers.

Hi,
I also have multicast stream in my LAN and I would like to re-stream to HLS. Where I could find some manual about this case.

Hello Evgeniy,

Please check https://blog.wmspanel.com/2015/06/mpegts-transmux-hls-rtmp-dash-nimble-streamer.html article containing setup instructions about transmuxing received MPEG-TS UDP to HLS.

Thank you.

It is running under Win via the same network interface (with option 'Reuse socked' 'Enabled' in the UDP rules).
