Nimble Streamer DVR Storage

Henrique 2020-01-09 16:02:20 UTC in WMSPanel functionality

Hello,

I have Nimble Streamer installed on a Google Instance Machine and I am using Standard Persistent Disk to storage all the data Nimble DVR generates. I would like to know if Nimble Streamer has any tool capable of use Google Storage Bucket as a Storage instead of using machine persistent disk. I have already tried Cloud Storage FUSE that use Google Storage Bucket as a file system (it is transparent to Nimble Streamer), however Nimble Streamer started to complain a lot about "slow disk writing" and I noticed that it started to consume more CPU and RAM as well. Today persistent disk is very expensive compared to Cloud Buckets that's way I am looking for other storage options.

Thank you.

Hi Henrique,
please make sure you use dvr v2 storage(see the panel settings for details) format for your archives. This format good optimized from block storage device.
I'd also recommend to test your archives with different value of "Max storage file size". please see DVR settings in the panel for details.
You can also try to copy/delete regular files with the same size as you have for "Max storage file size" and check your copy/remove speed.
Please also try to setup different "Thread name" for your archives. This way nimble will write your archives in several thread instead of using one thread as by default.
