Intra-server pull: RTMP vs MPEG-TS more reliable?

Tom 2016-06-20 15:06:01 UTC in Nimble Streamer

Hi folks,

I need to pull streams from one Nimble server to another (between countries, with less-than-reliable internet connectivity).

Normally I use the RTMP pull functionality for this, but I am not sure if MPEG-TS would give better results, i.e. would the stream disconnect more or less often?

If anyone has experience with this, it would be much appreciated!

Hi,

RTMP has less traffic consumption comparing to HTTP. If your network has any preferences for HTTP traffic over binary than you should choose MPEGTS. Other than that, it's up to you to deside.

I used MPEG-TS months Currently I use rtmp To discover the difference. There are differences and the important thing.

Hi Karwan,

Can you share your experience about both protocols?

Thank you.

Hi,
I my experience, with RTMP video and audio sometimes out of sync.
I still don't know is it the player or the bandwidth issue.
But with HTTP (MPEGTS), it's never happened.
same player and ISP.
