How works ID in signed URL

Saúl H 2017-09-28 22:53:51 UTC in Paywall: WMSAuth and beyond

I'm working with Nimble and I have a rule for my streams. I'm using Hotlinking Protection and it works fine. I read I can replace _IP with _ID, but I don't understand how works this, because the documentation talks about this using PPV with a handler.

How does _ID work in signed URL with Hotlinking Protection?

Thanks

Hotlink protection is based on IP address so it doesn't make sense to add ID instead of that. The ID is specifically used for pay-per-view - this is the way you can identify specific user and use handler to decide what to do with that user.

Thanks, when I read the documentation I understood I can use ID with Hotlinking protection too.

No, it's not applicable for hotlink protection.
