HLS in UDP out

sam 2022-05-23 11:17:28 UTC in WMSPanel functionality

i receive HLS and entered in TS IN, I want to define UDP output with multicast address etc 224.10.10.11:9001 there is no place in output stream section to enter multicast address. Can it be done?

Hi,
you will not be able to produce good quality multicast from hls stream in Nimble because nimble doesn’t buffer audio/video segments and output them once received without any delays. Please use another input source like udp/srt/rtmp/rtsp

I can do srt input but still i want UDP out. Honestly i read documentation but not clear enough. i want to define (udp://224.20.20.22:9002) multicast out but coudnt do it.

Hi,
go to "Nimble streamer"->"Live stream settings"->"UDP streaming"->"Add UDP settings" and define your output stream there. You will need to specify source stream you want to publish.
Please check https://blog.wmspanel.com/2015/07/advanced-mpegts-delivery-udp-nimble-streamer.html for details

Hi Alex, thank you for your help. it worked. I needed to change TLC value and boom. As you said with HLS in to udp out little freezing but srt to udp looks ok. my dvr player only accepts udp, that was the reason. well thank you again.

Hi Alex,
will you add some buffer for HLS input? I have some HLS inputs and it will be great. It is not usable like you wrote.

Hello Ladislav,

Actually Nimble can produce clean UDP output from HLS the way it described in https://blog.wmspanel.com/2019/07/udp-constant-bitrate-mux-rate.html article (with CBR buffer high enough to fit 2-3 HLS chunks).

You had right. MUX delay helped. Thanks
